US Retailer exposes customer credit cards resulting in fraudulent usage

In May 2017, the company confirmed that credit card information was stolen from shoppers who came into its stores. The store did not confirm how or when the data was stolen.

In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing in early October, the company disclosed a month-long data breach that compromised debit and credit card numbers had taken place in early September, thereby confirming their second cyber attack in under three years.

The company did not disclose the scale of the breach and they did not believe hackers were able to obtain social security numbers, email addresses, PIN numbers or personal information from their system.
