In September 2019, the airline company disclosed a data breach after two former employees of a third-party provider of e-commerce services improperly accessed the personal data of the company's customers and published it onto data exchange forums which led to the incident's discovery.
The customer data had been stored in a cloud-based environment without the appropriate security settings configured. The company stressed that the incident was "not related" to the security of its data infrastructure or that of its cloud storage provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The exposed passenger information included date of birth, passport number, and mobile number. Payment details were not compromised in this breach.
