During January 2013 an ex-employee performed malicious actions on his former company's systems (despite them being a computer security company).
He was able to gain access because before he left the company he downloaded the remote access software "LogMeIn" onto a co-worker's computer and disabled all the notification features so his co-worker was unaware when he began to access the company's computers via the software remotely on their computer.
Some of his malicious actions included re-routing visitors from the company's website to those of their rival companies, deleting files from the company's server and stealing former colleagues' credit card details and defrauding them.
In 2017, the ex-employee was sentenced to 7 years in prison for his actions.
